This V has a ton of options - 17 grand worth, to be exact. Steering is on the heavier side and a teeny bit slow, but feels right for a mid- to full-size sedan. The tires are low profile, so I did hit some potholes that made me wince here in wintry Detroit.
It also wouldn’t go into manual mode for some reason. I’ve driven several of these cars and never felt it before however, every one I’ve driven had probably less than 5,000 miles on it, so who knows. Forward motion is brisk at any speed, in any gear, but I did feel a little wonkiness at slow-speed shifts. It also sounds like a 'Vette in a tunnel when you downshift and flatten the throttle. It sounds like a frickin’ Corvette on startup, which I love. The 550-hp Cadillac CT6-V is coming, we're just not sure how long it's staying You just have to slide your finger across or jab at the plus sign. It’s not as clean and easy as a knob, but I don’t hate it with a passion anymore. The controls are fine, and I'm almost used to the slider for volume.
I plugged in my iPhone immediately, and sometimes - not sure why - that confuses things. A few times I started the car and it played music, but was frozen until I parked and then turned it off and on. In smaller cars, I rest my right knee on the center console. I also felt like the front seat knee area was cavernous, to the point where I was trying to hold my legs straight over the pedals. I also threw some junk in between the two seats in the back, AND it has a spot for a middle child seat, which is convenient if you only have one brat - or child, if you prefer. I put the two child seats in the back and didn’t have to move my seat or tell Road Test Editor Junior to stop putting his dirty feet on the seatback.
From inside though, it feels like plenty of space. The CTS is about 10 inches shorter than the new-but-still-dying CT6 sedan and it looks it, at least from the curb view. That one, like this one, was a monster, and boy will we all be sad to see it go. Then it had 556 hp, still with the supercharged LSA engine ( not the Z06 engine as previously stated - thanks to all for the corrections), and came in a sweet shade of Army green. Our Opinion: I remember driving the first CTS-V coupe like it was yesterday.
